As an Economic Development District, SCEDD encourages economic development planning and project implementation in urban and rural cities and counties in southern Colorado by opening the door for local communities to access grant and loan funding opportunities, administrative and technical assistance, data and technology resources, and other resources and support.

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)

SCEDD is a multi-jurisdictional organization that helps lead the locally based, regionally driven economic development planning process that leverages the involvement of the public, private and non-profit sectors to establish a strategic blueprint for regional collaboration. The strategic blueprint, known as a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), is a strategy-driven plan for regional economic development.

The SCEDD CEDS acknowledges the successes of past economic achievements and focuses on practical solutions and optional experimental strategies from business leaders, universities, educational entities, NGOs (non-governmental organizations), and economic development professionals with an expanded base of nontraditional stakeholders (non-profits, faith-based organizations, etc.). Over the next five years SCEDD and our partners will work together to implement this action-oriented plan.

The CEDS allows participating communities and organizations to receive grants and assistance from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for projects and technical assistance.
