SCEDD helps start-up and
expanding business and industry in a variety of ways. Through the SBA 504
loan program, SCEDD helps business with loans between $50,000 and
$1,000,000. The interest rate for these loans is about 1% above prime -
almost always lower than bank money. SCEDD has processed loans since 1980
totaling over $25,000,000. SCEDD works closely with local SBDC offices
(generally located in community colleges) to make sure new businesses have
a good understanding of the business plan and competition for their
business. There are strict requirements for the SBA 504 Program. Visit our

SCEDD will also help owners by
directing them to other sources of money. Revolving Loans are available in
almost every county in the District. Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) operators

Local banks frequently partner
with SCEDD for SBA 504 loans and with RLF's for their own loan programs.

Another way SCEDD helps business is to provide fact books full of information about a county or community to members or interested parties. These fact books are available within 24 hours from the time of request. Fact books can be personalized to whomever it is being sent.
